Two BWHers were honored for excellence in teaching at Harvard Medical School’s (HMS) 2017 Daniel D. Federman Teaching Awards ceremony.
Stephanie Caterson, MD, director of the Perforator Flap Breast Reconstruction Program in the Division of Plastic Surgery and assistant professor of surgery at HMS, received the 2017 Bernard Lown Award for Excellence in Teaching. The Lown Award was established to celebrate physicians who are outstanding clinical leaders and recognize the significant role that education plays in the Brigham’s mission.
Dara Lee Lewis, MD, a physician with the Lown Cardiovascular Group and an instructor in medicine at HMS, received one of the two Donald O’Hara, PhD, Faculty Prizes for Excellence in Teaching at the awards ceremony. Named in honor of the late Daniel Federman, the Carl W. Walter Distinguished Professor of Medicine and former dean for medical education, the awards honor educators whose impact in medical education is felt across generations and around the globe.
