Hemophilia Factor Replacement Therapy Program

The basic treatment to stop or prevent bleeding in people with hemophilia A and B is factor replacement therapy. This is the infusion (injection into the bloodstream) of factor VIII and IX concentrates to prevent or control bleeding.

We know factor products and related supplies are very costly. As a federally-designated hemophilia treatment center, the Boston Hemophilia Center can provide these products to patients at a significant discount. Our non-profit program was formed in 1999. We have contracts with many commercial insurance companies, as well as Medicare and most of the MassHealth plans. Revenue generated by the Factor Program supports clinical services, educational programs and special projects such as the Gift of Experience that benefit our patients, families and community.
