Gene Bukhman, MD, PhD, Associate Physician in the Division of Global Health Equity and the Cardiovascular Division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is a cardiologist and medical anthropologist. He is Director of the Program in Global Noncommunicable Disease (NCDs) and Social Change at Harvard Medical School, where he is an Assistant Professor of Medicine as well as Global Health and Social Medicine. He is the Senior Health and Policy Advisor on NCDs at Partners In Health, where he directs the NCD Synergies project (www.ncdsynergies.org). His work focuses on policy, planning, and service delivery for the noncommunicable diseases and injuries of populations living in extreme poverty. He is the co-chair of the Lancet Commission on Reframing NCDs and Injuries for the Poorest Billion (www.ncdipoverty.org).
