Patrick Elliott earned his BS from the University of Dayton in 2004, and his MD and MPH from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 2010. After graduating from college he volunteered for a year in Callao, Peru at a post-secondary institute which provides education to the poor. During medical school he completed a clinical rotation in Lima, and another in rural Mexico performing thesis research. While there he evaluated a program to increase cervical cancer screening participation among women in rural Chiapas, Mexico, and he has continued to collaborate on projects to better understand cervical and breast cancer screening in low-income nations. As a Global Health Equity resident he hopes to improve sustainable models of patient care, especially in chronic diseases such as cancer, and to develop local capacity.
