Autonomic Neurology Research

As part of its mission to provide world-class clinical care and further the understanding and treatment of neurological diseases, the Department of Neurology sponsors multidisciplinary research programs spanning the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Radiology, Pathology, Anesthesiology and Medicine.

The efforts and expertise of this multidisciplinary group of physicians and scientists have produced significant contributions to our understanding of neurological disease mechanisms and to the development of new treatments for brain disorders.

The aim of our research is to investigate the underlying risks, treatment strategies, and outcomes associated with neurological diseases and translate our findings into improved care for our patients. Our laboratories conduct both basic science and clinical research to explore a number of complex neurological diseases.

Our basic research programs are focused on the application of current biological methods to understand the pathogenesis and treatment of certain chronic, unsolved neurological diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson’s disease.
