Overview
The cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) physics group in the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital focuses on new methods for assessing physiological markers of heart disease that facilitate the early detection of disease, monitoring of therapeutic interventions, and in more general terms, expanding the understanding about the causes, mechanisms, and effects of heart disease. The primary focus is on magnetic resonance imaging because this imaging modality (arguably) provides extremely versatile methods for studying structure, function, and metabolism of the heart with minimal burden on the patient.
The CMR physics group has focused on myocardial perfusion imaging and myocardial tissue characterization.
