Procedural Sedation

The Procedural Sedation Course is a 3 hour classroom and practice session designed to prepare nurses to function in the role of “monitor” during procedures where medication is administered to provide the patient moderate procedural sedation.  The requirements of the BWH policy on Moderate and Deep Procedural Sedation is reviewed during a Power Point Presentation.  Nurses are asked to demonstrate competency in maintaining a patent airway, monitoring the patient's status during the procedure, communicating with providers and documenting the procedure. Following classroom presentations and case discussions nurses are required to successfully complete a test of knowledge and demonstration of competency./p>

Each course is held from 4:00PM - 7:00PM at One Brigham Circle, 4th Floor. Please register through Healthstream searching by course name or course date.
