|Baran Ersoy, PhD|
Baran Ersoy, PhD, a research fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in BWH's Department of Medicine, received two awards - the Liver Scholar Award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) and the American Liver Foundation (ALF), and the President's Research Scholar Award from the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).
The Liver Scholar Award provides young scientists with support for their research to bridge the gap between completion of research training and attainment of status as an independent research scientist.
Every two years, an application of exceptional merit will be named for the AGA Institute President's Research Scholar Award.
The AASLD aims to advance the science and practice of hepatology, liver transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery, thereby promoting liver health and optimal care of patients with liver and biliary tract diseases. The ALF, created in 1976 by the AASLD, aims to facilitate, advocate for and promote education, support and research for the prevention, treatment and cure of liver disease.
The AGA aims to advance the science and practice of gastroenterology through best practice guidelines, education and research.
