Moody Awarded Vaccine Accelerator Grant from Gates Foundation

D. Branch Moody, MD, a physician in BWH's Department of Rheumatology, Immunology and Allergy was honored with a $3 million grant from the Global Health Program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
The grant was awarded based on an international contest to suggest innovative approaches to vaccinate against tuberculosis. Most current development of T cell-based vaccines emphasize MHC proteins and peptide antigens. Moody will lead an international consortium in measuring immune responses from CD1 proteins and mycobacterial lipid antigens.
The Global Health Division of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation aims to harness advances in science and technology to save lives in developing countries. The foundation works with partners to deliver proven tools, including vaccines, drugs and diagnostics.
