Judi Edwards’ colleagues have been calling her a superstar ever since her face began appearing on TV screens around the BWH distributed campus. Her claim to fame? Going above and beyond to help answer patient questions, even if they are not related to her department.
Small acts of kindness and examples of customer service like Edwards’ happen each day at BWH. Instead of flying under the radar, many of these acts are being recognized through the Brigham Way campaign.
The Brigham Way is defined as going above and beyond to make the hospital a better place for all who come through our doors. BWHers are able to nominate themselves or their co-workers to be a part of the Brigham Way campaign, which features nominees’ photos and Brigham Way examples on PikeNotes and TV screens around campus.
The campaign has been gaining momentum with more than 50 nominations since the Jan. 17 launch. This week, Brigham Way participants from the first quarter were honored at a thank you luncheon with BW/F President Betsy Nabel, MD.
“I’m so thankful to all of you who exemplify the Brigham Way,” said Nabel, who encouraged participants to tell their colleagues about the campaign. “The ways that you go above and beyond every day truly make this hospital a special place for those of us who work here, as well as for our patients and visitors.”
For many Brigham Way honorees, meeting together at the luncheon was an opportunity to forge new connections.
“The culture here is about the people,” said Adam Kayi, operations manager of BWH Support Services Operations. “That’s what the campaign is all about.”
“I’m flattered that a colleague would go out of their way to nominate me,” said Steve Kyriakidis, public space coordinator of BWH Office Services, who was nominated for his Brigham Way of “constantly striving to improve the process for staff requesting office services.”
