Cooking for the Heart at BWH
New Delhi-born master chef Suvir Saran (pictured at far left) shared his lifelong passion for the traditional flavors of Indian cuisine during a heart-healthy cooking demonstration and tasting on June 9, outside the Shop on the Pike.
Saran, an accomplished chef, cookbook author and organic farmer, who was a featured judge on the television shows "Iron Chef" and "Next Iron Chef," made stir-fried cabbage with red peppers, peanuts and peas. He spoke about the benefits of healthy eating and the advantages of cooking with spices.
BWHers gathered to get a glimpse of the chef at work, sample the dish and ask him about heart-healthy cooking. Saran worked alongside Manar Alsebai, of BWH Food Services, and Kathy McManus, MS, RD, director of BWH Nutrition.
