During this time of giving and receiving, BWH Public Affairs reached out to you—BWH employees and staff across the institution—to tell us whom you would to like to give special thanks to this holiday season. You responded by telling us who makes you laugh, whom you always depend on and who has touched you with their compassion. Visit www.bwhpikenotes.org/thankyou to read more of these messages about acts of kindness—big and small—that truly make a difference.

I would like to thank the WIC program assistants who make our Jamaica Plain WIC program shine! They greet all of our participants with a smile, and they work so hard every day, multi-tasking at high speed, to help participants receive their WIC benefits. They are all fluent in English and Spanish, and they flow between the two languages all day long. We appreciate all they do to make our program run smoothly. The program assistants are Yolanda Ayala, Danilsa Fernandez, Maria Mejias, Carmen Santiago, Dulce Stengel and Ana Torres. Maria Dievler, RD Director of WIC and Nutrition, Brookside Community Health Center
I would like to thank the BWH Crosstown van drivers. I have been taking the Crosstown van from 221 Longwood (where my lab is located) to the BWH and back for the last several weeks to get to physical therapy at the hospital after I fractured some bones in my foot. Unfortunately I am too near-sighted to read their name tags, but all the drivers I had were great, helping me in and out of the van—that was much appreciated! So, many thanks to all of them!

I would like to thank the staff and nurses on 10A. My mom, Leonilda Bozzi, had a bad experience at another hospital in the area and wanted to be transferred here where I work. Her prognosis is terminal but the care and compassion here is far more than we could ever ask for.Their kindness, compassion and caring made my mom so happy and comfortable while staying here. They were extremely attentive to her wants and needs. Our family was comfortable leaving her at night and going home with relief that she was well taken care of. My mother is home now and opted out of all treatments. She will spend her final days with her family. Maryann Kennedy Administrative Coordinator, Rheumatology
Gary Gottlieb thanks employees during the Dec. 9 ice cream social.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital is such an extraordinary place because of the special people in each role and department who embrace a determination to make a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Thank you to all of you.
I have been inspired every single day of the last seven years by your passion, your selflessness and your tremendous dedication to deliver on a mission that is larger than any one of us alone. With my deepest gratitude and utmost respect, as I move on, I will use as my guide your commitment to caring and giving to others. President Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA
