Clinical Research
Research performed by the faculty of the Center for Cutaneous Oncology is at the cutting edge of modern dermatology, cell biology, and immunology.
The Skin Cancer SPORE initiative is designed to promote interdisciplinary research and to facilitate the bi-directional exchange of information between the scientists who study skin cancer and the physicians who treat it. The Skin Cancer SPORE is a five-year, $14.25 million research initiative funded by the NIH, and it is the only one of its kind in the nation.
Many of the doctors who treat cutaneous patients at Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center are also involved in the research of the SPORE grant.
The program is also fortunate to have additional resources available through the Harvard Skin Disease Research Center, one of six centers nationally that investigate a variety of skin diseases, including cutaneous oncology. The Research Center is located at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
The Cutaneous Oncology department is also currently conducting a variety of clinical trials. For information regarding eligibility, please call (617) 632-6171.
