Our Services
The Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology is a multidisciplinary and multispecialty care and treatment center, as well as a cutting-edge research facility. Our focus is to provide expert, compassionate, and state-of-the-art care, as well as to offer patients options that include experimental treatments. We treat all genitourinary malignancies, including cancers of the prostate, testes, bladder and kidney.
Our collaborative clinical approach is based on the foundation of multidisciplinary teams that include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and urologists. The multidisciplinary teams work together in a cooperative manner to discuss and recommend specific treatments for each individual patient, with a goal toward providing the best possible advice for each patient. Our providers offer a tailored treatment plan based on the latest surgical, chemotherapy, and radiation treatment approaches, including access to NCI clinical trials.
We recognize that a patient may need other forms of support in addition to his or her clinical care while dealing with his or her disease. We focus on compassionate care throughout the disease process, including long-term follow-up and palliative care for our patients with advanced cancers. Further, we assist the patient in dealing with his or her disease by offering the following services:
- licensed social workers
- specialized nursing care
- nutrition counseling
- patient-education resources
- support groups
- pastoral care
Division of Urologic Surgery
The Division of Urologic Surgery provides evaluation and surgical management of patients with genitourinary cancers, including those of the prostate, testes, bladder and kidney at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. Second opinions are provided if requested by a physician.
Since Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women's are located across the street from one another, our oncology inpatients are followed pre- and postoperatively by both medical oncologists and surgeons alike, who continually update one another, all the while striving for the best possible patient care.
