Steven Hodi, MD, and Phillip Friedlander, MD, PhD, of the Center for Melanoma Oncology.

The Center for Melanoma Oncology at Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center offers patients access to a team of specialists who focus on all aspects of melanoma skin cancers, including treatment, prevention, and research and clinical trials.

The Melanoma program evaluates patients with confirmed or suspected melanoma using a multidisciplinary approach. Our team is made up of health care professionals including dermatologists, nurse practitioners, physician's assistants, pathologists, surgical and medical oncologists, plastic surgeons, and radiation oncologists.

Our physicians are experts in the care of patients who have melanoma or who may be at risk for developing melanoma.

Weekly multi-disciplinary clinic

We know it can be time-consuming to make multiple trips to Boston for different treatments. At the Center for Melanoma Oncology, patients are able to arrange to see oncologists, surgeons, dermatologists, and other specialists on same day. Each week, our team of specialists reviews patient cases, and works together to decide how best to treat each one.

Clinical trials open for all stages of melanoma

The Center for Melanoma Oncology has more than 14 clinical trials available for patients at any given time. Our trials include cutting-edge immunotherapy, chemotherapy, vaccines, and novel targeted therapies to treat Stage III and IV melanoma. Some studies are sponsored by external pharmaceutical companies, and others are developed in Dana-Farber's research labs.

These clinical trials allow us to provide a broad range of treatment options for high-risk melanoma patients or patients with metastatic disease in a way that best fits the needs of each individual patient.
