Diseases Treated

Gastrointestinal (GI) Cancer

The GI Radiation Oncology Team works in a multidisciplinary fashion with surgical and medical oncologists to provide the benefits of a team approach and the most up-to-date care for patients with cancers of the GI tract. Disease sites include tumors of the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, gallbladder, liver, billiary tract, colon, rectum and anus.

Fusion of PET/CT scans with CT-based treatment simulation permits the precise identification of target volume. This allows us to make best use of our three-dimensional conformal radiation beam arrangement to provide the most accurate dose distribution to the tumor, while limiting dose to normal tissue. This also helps to minimize short- and long-term side effects of treatment.
