Thoracic Cancer

The Thoracic Radiotherapy Group is treating patients using the latest advances in technology and novel biologic therapies in an attempt to provide the highest level of quality care for patients with thoracic malignancies. We routinely employ new imaging modalities such as FDG-PET scans to help pinpoint the targets for treatment. We are using a novel technology called four-dimensional CT scanning which gives us a real time picture of how lung tumors move with respiratory motion. We have implemented an in-room infrared tracking system to help set up patients more accurately for therapy.

In addition to treating lung cancer patients, we are working together with Dr. David Sugarbaker in the Division of Thoracic Surgery, and the International Mesothelioma Program to provide cutting edge care for patients with mesothelioma.
