Clinical research fellows are involved in the acquisition, analysis and publication of data of patients, who were operated in the division of cardiac surgery at Brigham & Women's Hospital. The aim of the clinical research is to demonstrate results and trends of new therapeutic procedures and compare interventions in cardiac surgery through retrospective and prospective studies, that will help establish more effective treatments and therapeutic protocols. Work includes review of the literature, sampling and processing of patients data, and simple statistical (descriptive) analysis. Further, manuscripts are prepared for publication, depending on the importance of the results. Fellows also participate in the preparation of manuscripts for textbooks.
