Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Cancer Leadership Council is pleased to hold Collaborations for a Cure its first annual Cancer Symposium. The symposium, scheduled for November 5, 2009, will highlight exciting advances that BWH is making in cancer research, surgery, and patient care.
The day will begin with a breakfast and presentations by two keynote speakers, who will provide a comprehensive overview of research at BWH and a glimpse into our innovative cancer work. First, Cynthia Morton, Ph.D., director of the BWH Biomedical Research Institute, will discuss pioneering new research that holds tremendous promise in how we treat cancer. Then, Christopher Crum, M.D., the Division Chief of our Women’s and Perinatal Pathology Department, will describe how BWH is providing new therapies and approaches to treat gynecologic cancers.
Breakout sessions focusing on different cancers will follow. Participants will be able to select a session dealing with a specialty of interest in the following areas of cancer treatment and research: breast, prostate, melanoma, brain tumors, gynecologic oncology, thoracic, colon, and thyroid. The session will include information on cutting-edge research, cancer prevention and early detection, and current treatments.
