Vincent Ricchiuti, Ph.D.
Dr. Ricchiuti uses molecular biologic techniques to understand mechanisms involved in cardiac damage specifically related to hypertension. His current research investigates 1) the effect of dietary sodium and potassium intake on cardiac damage via caveolae-signaling pathways, 2) interactions between estrogen and the well-known regulators of vascular function: eNOS and the RAAS that leads to cardiac damage, and 3) inflammatory and cardiac markers in obesity. Dr. Ricchiuti’s unique training as a molecular biologist, biochemist and clinical chemist allows him to conduct his research using new technologies such as real-time PCR, DNA chip microarrays and multiplex arrays.
