An interesting travel tip – an EPP Mom wrote about a vacation that her family took. They traveled to Peru during our summer – it is, of course, winter down there. She wrote that Lima, Peru, in winter was an excellent place for their EPP son – Lima has no sun for 7 months of the year, but the weather is mild. You just have to worry about earthquakes, she said!! They even climbed Macchu Picchu, and her EPP boy, who wore a hat, long sleeves and long pants, had no reactions, even at high altitude. She recommends the trip to anyone who wants to get out of the heat in our summer and see some beauty and interesting sights in the process.
As we have said many times, it is important to take care of your liver. While Dr. Roth was helping man the American Porphyria Foundation booth at the annual Liver Diseases meeting, which was held this year (2006) in Boston, she had time to view the exhibits, and found that the one run by the Hepatitis Foundation had good information about keeping the liver healthy. You may want to check out their website, www.HepatitisFoundation.org. They had a little brochure called “Your Liver: Where Is It, And What It Does For You”. It is written to target young people, but it contains useful information for people of all ages.
