Doula program
A doula helps provide support to a laboring woman through massage, encouraging words, assistance with position changes, and her continual presence. Doulas are also known as birth sisters.
Harvard Medical School
The midwives teach the third-year medical students a class on Normal Labor and Birth; medical students also spend part of their clinical rotation on the labor floor with the midwives.
Nurse-Midwifery Education
The midwives teach student midwives in AP, IP, PP and GYN rotations, and integration (internship). The Brigham Midwifery Group is a high-volume practice with a diverse patient population. Our setting is a tertiary care hospital; prenatal sites include neighborhood health centers. A knowledge of Spanish is recommended.
