About Us
The Head and Neck Oncology Program provide diagnostic, consultative and treatment services for patients with malignant or benign tumors of the head and neck. In a true multidisciplinary setting established primarily for the care of patients with head and neck cancer, physicians and allied health professionals from all relevant specialites are available in combination or individually for patient evaluation and treatment.
The program is part of the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center. Its supervisory and administrative services are co-directed by Marshall Posner, MD, as Medical Director. Active clinical and basic research initiatives include protocols in areas of organ preservation, the treatment of advanced head and neck cancer, prevention of second cancers, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunologic and gene based therapies, molecular biology and genetics, treatment of recurrent disease and palliation.
The surgical staff of the Head and Neck Oncology Program is comprised of head and neck surgeons frm the Brigham and Women's Hospital Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Charles Norris, Dr. Donald Annino, and Dr. Laura Goguen provide surgical services and consultation. Both surgical and medical inpatient services are centered at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, but may also be coordinated by program members through other institutions. The Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center is a founder and integral component of the Harvard Head and Neck Oncology Program, a collaborative organization spanning the major Harvard teaching hospitals in the areas of patient care, research, innovation, education and training.
