The Pathology Department at the Brigham and Women's Hospital enjoys abundent clinical, research and training collaborations with Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children Hospital of Boston, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Fellowship training programs in dermatopathology, molecular genetics, cytegenetics, and transfusion medicine, for examples, are Harvard-wide programs where fellows rotate through all the institutions during their training. Combined Pathology Grand Rounds are held alternating at BWH, BIDMC and MGH. The pathology courses at Harvard Medical School are taught by faculty from all Harvard-affilicated teaching hospitals. As a member institution of the Dana Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, the department operates several research core facilities which serve reseachers from all across the cancer center. After completing their core pathology training, many of the senior residents of the BWH pathology department have taken the oppotunity and choose to conduct research in many of the world-class research establishments in the Boston area.
