Breastfeeding Philosophy
The Center for Women and Newborns encourages and supports breastfeeding. We recognize that breast milk meets the total nutritional needs of term infants and is the preferred basis of nutrition for premature babies. In addition, breast milk provides anti-infection benefits to newborns, is economical for the family and also contributes to mother/infant bonding.
The department of Nursing, Nutrition, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology support the World Health Organization/UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital initiative in the promotion of breastfeeding.
