For Enrolled Participants
National Lung Screening Trial is a multi-site project funded by the National Cancer Institute. The enrollment of 50,000 current or former smokers will occur over a period of 2 years. Enrolled participants will be randomized (assigned by chance) to receive either a CAT scan or chest x-ray. Participants will be contacted yearly for follow up by the phone or mail. At the time of screening the participant will receive a stipend to cover expenses.
