Tax Information:

National Postdoc Association's Tax Information Page - provides information for postdocs including withholding, filing, fellowships, FICA, and more.

Tax Information from the Partners International Office - All non-immigrant visa holders (H-1B, J-1, F-1, O-1 and TN) must file a U.S. Income Tax Return even if they did not earn income from a US source.

Finding Housing:

BostonBrick Investments helps internationals who need to rent in and around Boston. People are connected with a local rental agency and BostonBrick Investments functions as an advocate during the relocation process.

Academic Homes caters exclusively to the international academic community and provides a resource for renting, buying, selling or exchanging homes.

Getting Settled:

Survival Guide for International Postdocs - Guidance acclimatizing to life as a scientist in the U.S. from the National Postdoc Association.

Welcome to Boston: A Guide for International Newcomers - A guide book for internationals adjusting to life in Boston from the Interchange Institute. The ORC provides each new postdoc with a copy of this book at orientation.  If you did not receive a copy, email: BWHORC@partners.org.

FRESH Start Guide -  The ORC has drafted a new, multidimensional resource guide for incoming researchers and their families.  The FRESH Start Guide (Family Resources for Ethnicities Searching for Home) will assist researchers and their families with the transition to a new city and environment that may be hundreds, if not, thousands of miles away from home.  The FRESH Start Guide features opportunities and resources for families to connect with the home they left behind.  Sections include cultural organizations and events, online media, specialty food markets, movie theaters and much more. What makes Boston feel more like home for you?  We are seeking postdocs to review the guide and to tell us what you find useful or what you think we should add to make this guide more accurate and helpful.  If you are interested in contributing to this project, please send your comments or feedback to: BWHORC@partners.org
