The goal of the three-year research program at BWH is to develop successful and independent physician-scientists. The BWH renal division offers outstanding basic and clinical research opportunities, and provides intensive training in a multidisciplinary environment. Senior and junior faculty preceptors at the BWH will closely supervise fellows joining ongoing research projects.
The BWH/MGH joint clinical year is preceded or followed by a three-year research commitment at either the BWH or the MGH. Applicants to the fellowship program are expected to use the interview process to identify potential research mentors and further, if matched with the program, expected to choose a research mentor by October of their first year, if the clinical year is preceecding the research years. As part of their research training, fellows will be expected to apply for research grant support during the first year of the three-year research program.
