The Department of Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital offers a four-year program to train physicians committed to careers in global health equity. The interdisciplinary curriculum focuses on skills needed to remediate health disparities. This residency leads to eligibility for certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and provides the opportunity for graduate level training in public health, economics, medical anthropology, and other disciplines.
Residents complete a total of 48 months of multidisciplinary training. This expanded program fulfills the requirements for board eligibility in internal medicine, as well as for a Master of Public Health (MPH) or equivalent degree. The curriculum includes training and education in eight disciplines specific to global health equity, as well as the core competencies in internal medicine as defined by the American Council on Graduate Medical Education.
