Medicine-Pediatrics Residency
Welcome to The Harvard Brigham and Women’s/Children’s Hospital Boston Medicine-Pediatric Residency web site!
Thank you for your interest in our Combined Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program. Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Children's Hospital Boston (CHB) are committed to providing outstanding clinical training in an environment rich with cutting-edge research, a broad clinical spectrum from primary care to state-of-the-art quaternary care, and personalized support for each physician's intellectual and personal development.
Effective September 2006, the Harvard Combined Medicine-Pediatrics Residency split into two sister programs: the BWH/CHB program based in the Longwood medical area adjacent to Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) based program. This change was required due to the implementation of the new 2006 ACGME Med-Peds program requirements. These two programs remain linked for educational and social interactions, but each have separate leadership, core hospitals and ERAS/NRMP match numbers. The two programs are committed to providing reciprocal educational electives and shared mentoring. In July 2007, each program had it's own group of four interns begin their training. For more on the history of our programs and the areas of collaboration, refer to the Harvard Associated Medicine-Pediatrics Programs website: http://medapps.med.harvard.edu/medpeds/index.html
Med-Peds residents in the Harvard BWH/CHB Residency are fully integrated into each categorical residency and have full access to all of the resources of both departments, in addition to those of our sister program at the MGH. Med-Peds residents are given the same supervision, responsibilities and opportunities as their colleagues in the categorical medicine and pediatric training programs. Though fully integrated into each of the departments, the residents also have a unique identity. The Med-Peds identity is supported with Med-Peds trained faculty and mentors, Med-Peds Grand Rounds (teleconferenced with our sister med-peds program at MGH), curriculum committee meetings, social events, combined clinical rotations and continuity clinic experiences.
