The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine provides attending and consultative service in the inpatient and outpatient settings for patients with a full range of pulmonary and critical care disorders. The Division has extraordinary expertise in care of patients with asthma and COPD, which comprise over 80% of chronic pulmonary disorders. In addition, the Division directs the BWH Medical Intensive Care Unit and participates in other BWH ICU’s. The Division has worked closely with the Division of Thoracic Surgery to establish a premier lung transplantation program. The Division provides medical direction for the pulmonary function laboratory, respiratory care services and pulmonary rehabilitation at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Faculty are active in the community with practice sites at the Faulkner Hospital, The Veterans Administration Hospital, Kindred Health Care (formerly Vencor), Harvaard/MIT Health Care and Boston Children’s Hospital. The Partners Asthma Center has satellites throughout the greater Boston area..
