Overview
“This new building is an extension of our vision to model the best approaches in health care as we build on the excellent work we do here every day.”
—BWH President Gary L. Gottlieb, MD, MBA
- A technologically advanced environment – The Shapiro Center provides a more technologically-capable infrastructure that supports our vision of transforming cardiovascular care. Featuring the latest technologies, including robotics and sophisticated imaging equipment, operating rooms support both interventional and surgical procedures – allowing surgeons, interventional cardiologists and radiologists to perform multiple procedures simultaneously.
- Seamless, coordinated cardiovascular care – By locating the full range of cardiovascular services in a single building, the Center better supports “real- time” communications between an integrated team of specialists and staff that can address each patient’s needs in a comprehensive manner.
- Enhanced patient and family comfort and convenience – Each single-occupancy patient room has windows to allow extensive natural light, a mobile bed to permit caregivers greater access to patients, and the most up-to-date equipment. Family members enjoy a variety of waiting areas, resource centers, and education and consultation rooms to ensure their comfort and privacy.
- Accelerated translation of scientific research into proven clinical practice – The Center supports physician-scientists in their discovery of new treatments and provides a novel education and training center with unprecedented resources.
