In addition to the Harvard-wide Grand Rounds and core curriculum, each of the participating hospitals has individual teaching lectureships and conferences for the rotating residents at that institution. These sessions are well-attended by the Harvard residents and faculty, and community plastic surgeons are encouraged to attend.

Teaching Conferences
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center:
Tuesday Morning Teaching Conference is held each week between 7:00 – 8:00 am. Lectures or case presentation from the service are presented by the residents, attending staff, or invited speakers. A monthly morbidity and mortality conference is also held at this time.
Hand Surgery Conference is held weekly on Mondays from 5:00-6:00 pm. Discussion focuses on the indications, management options, and operative planning for upcoming hand cases on the service with a review of pertinent films in conjunction with staff radiologists.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital:
Teaching Walk Rounds are held each week on Thursday mornings from 6:30-7:30 am. The conference is attended by all BWH resident and medical student members of the plastic surgery service, as well as the faculty. Selected cases from the service are presented by one of the residents, followed by a discussion and bedside exam and evaluation of the patient. Additional topics for discussion include operative indications, as well as a monthly morbidity and mortality review.
Children’s Hospital:
Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Teaching Conference is a shared didactic teaching conference between the oral maxillofacial surgery and plastic surgery services that is held weekly on Fridays from 7:00-8:00 am. There are formal lectures, case presentations, indications conferences, invited lecturers, and morbidity and mortality discussions. This conference provides a unique opportunity for residents to interact directly with the oral surgery residents, faculty, and ancillary staff on a regular basis.
Vascular Anomalies / Craniofacial / Cleft Lip and Palate Clinics are weekly multidisciplinary clinics/conferences dedicated to the examination and evaluation of children with complex craniofacial and vascular disorders. Residents are encouraged to participate, and these clinics provide an excellent opportunity for residents to work with the multitude of services that contribute to the care of these patients.
Massachusetts General Hospital:
Hand Conference is held weekly on Tuesday morning from 6:30 – 7:30 am. Under the direction of the hand fellow, discussions cover interesting cases, pre-operative indications, morbidity and mortality, and lectures on core topics in hand surgery.
Joint Hand Conference (Orthopedics/Plastic Surgery) is held every Friday morning and attended by all residents and staff from the combined hand surgery services. The curriculum covers a series of didactic lectures given by the orthopedic and plastic surgery residents on core topics in hand surgery.
Chief Resident Conference is held every Thursday morning from 7:00 – 8:00 am. Reconstructive and cosmetic cases from the chief resident’s ward clinic are presented to a group of attending staff for discussion, and an operative plan is formulated.
Shriner's Burn Hospital
Teaching Rounds/Conference is held at 4:00PM on Wednesday afternoons which in conjunction with general surgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and nursing staff from the Shriners Hospital. Reconstructive cases, both pre and post operative, are presented and discussed. Acute burn cases are also discussed and treatment plans formulated. Short didactic lecture augment these discussions and may be given by one of the faculty, residents, or therapists. Residents rotating at the Shriners Hospital are encouraged to attend the weekly teaching conferences at the MGH as well.
