Overview
Sponsored Staff are people working at the hospital who are receiving their salary from sources other than the hospital. These people perform all the same types of services as a regular employee but are not paid off of the hospital payroll. Sponsored Staff are typically paid by other academic institutions, foundations or foreign governments.
This document will be useful in helping you detemine the appropriate category for onboarding your research staff.
All Sponsored Staff persons must attend a Sponsored Staff Orientation (SSO), complete a registration form, safety and training quiz, confidentiality agreement, submit to a CORI check and be cleared through Occupational Health before receiving a sponsored staff hospital id badge.
Please be aware that the Office for Sponsored Staff and Volunteer Services does not work with or facilitate any part of the visa acquisition process. It is the responsibility of the department, to ensure that the person they are interested in bringing into the hospital as a Sponsored Staff has the appropriate visa to work in the United States and within the hospital. This document may be helpful in determining which visas are appropriate. The following website is an additional resource: http://travel.state.gov.
