SSJP now 85 students large for the 2013-2014 school year

SSJP has grown from 80 to 85 students, and welcomes the 35 new student hires this year.

Our newest outcome data (2014) results are in:

  • 71% of SSJP alumni are currently enrolled in a four-year college or university and 10% have already graduated
  • well over half of our SSJP graduates who enroll in college are majoring in or have majored in health and science related fields
  • 51% of our SSJP alumni are currently in paid employment positions and of those, 31% are employed at Mass General Brigham institutions!
  • 93% of alumni identify as people of color (Black or African American, Hispanic/Latino, and/or Asian)

Alumni Updates

  • We warmly welcome Daina Estime, who joined our SSJP staff full time in 2013 as our "Student Success Jobs Program Student Coordinator." Daina is a 2009 SSJP graduate and received her Bachelor's of Science from Simmons College in 2013.
  • Congrats to Jackie Pires (SSJP 2008, Reed College 2012) for her matriculation into Umass Medical School (class of 2017)!
  • Monica Kaceli (SSJP 2009 and 2013 graduate of Syracuse University) completed her first year at Tufts Dental School. Way to go, Monica!
  • Congrats to Yoal Peguero, SSJP graduate of 2009 and Boston University graduate 2013, who works full time for the Boston Public Health Commission!
  • Stanthia Ryan, SSJP 2009 and Hamilton College graduate of 2013 was recently offered a full-time position at Brigham and Women's Hospital OB/GYN research department working for Dr. Raina Fichorova. Way to go, Stanthia!
  • Congrats to Bert Mayers, SSJP 2009 and Umass Amherst class of 2013 for securing a full-time position within Microbiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital!
  • Tanya Young, RN (SSJP 2007, Regis College 2011) was recently accepted into Umass Boston's Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner Program for this fall, 2014! Way to go, Tanya!
