Ethan Parten, DHS, MBA

Ethan Parten, DHS, MBA, serves as vice president of Peri-Procedural Services across the Brigham. In this role, Parten manages all capital improvement projects and leads performance improvement initiatives for these areas, which comprise the Ambulatory Treatment Room and Wound Care Center; the Brachytherapy Suite; Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiology; the Electrophysiology Laboratory; Echocardiography and Vascular Services; Endoscopy; Infusion; Interventional Nephrology and Radiology; and Pre- and Post-Procedure Services. Additionally, he manages compliance, operating results, administrative and strategic leadership and the financial performance of clinical operations across Peri-Procedural Services. Parten serves as chair of the Peri-Procedural Leadership Group and the Procedural Coordinating Committee. To ensure alignment and efficiency across all Brigham sites of care, he also oversees Endoscopy and Infusion programs and operations at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital.

Parten is an accomplished and goal-driven leader with hospital and physician group management experience in both academic and community medicine settings. He joined the Brigham as a clinical operations coordinator in 2003 and was named administrative director of the International Mesothelioma Program and the Division of Thoracic Surgery in 2007. Parten then joined Steward Health Care in 2010 as director of Practice Management, and he later returned to the Brigham in 2013 as executive director of the Department of Neurosurgery. In 2017, he expanded his responsibilities, taking on the concurrent role of executive director of the Department of Psychiatry.

In addition to his work at the Brigham, Parten is a board member of the Peabody Foundation, as well as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Healthcare Business at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS).

A dedicated leader and mentor, he is motivated to continue learning and using his experience to implement effective change management, develop talent and teams, improve organizational culture and strategic planning and grow volume and financial results while promoting access and brand awareness.

Parten earned a bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College, a master’s in business administration with a concentration in health care from the University of New Hampshire Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics and his doctorate in health science and health service administration from MCPHS.
