Katie Fillipon, DNP, RN, NEA-BCKatie Fillipon, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, is the interim chief nursing officer and senior vice president for Patient Care Services.

Fillipon partners with the chief medical officer, administrators, medical directors, clinicians and staff to advance operations related to the delivery of safe, high-quality care and to improve patient access and capacity. This includes serving as a tri-chair of the hospital’s Inpatient Leadership Group.

For the past three years, Fillipon has held the role of deputy chief nursing officer and vice president of Nursing, leading daily operations for the Department of Nursing as well as strategic planning for the development of innovative, high-quality clinical programs.

She continues to serve as associate chief nursing officer for Oncology, supporting leaders and staff in the hospital’s hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant units.

Fillipon has worked at the Brigham for her entire career, beginning as a student and then a clinical nurse in Oncology. She worked as a nursing director and nurse educator for Oncology before becoming the division’s associate chief nurse. Her leadership was essential to the successful opening of two new oncology units, as well as the development of the CAR T-cell therapy program.

She also previously served as associate chief nursing officer for the hospital’s Medicine units.

Fillipon has contributed to numerous department-wide initiatives, including expanding the shared governance model, developing a division-based education model, increasing professional certifications and reducing vacancies.

She completed her doctorate, master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
