Susan Rapple, Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer

Susan Rapple leads Brigham and Women’s Hospital Development team in connecting donors to the hospital’s world-class care, research and educational programs through philanthropic outreach. With more than 35 years of experience leading development strategy and comprehensive fundraising activities for nonprofit organizations, she leads the Brigham's efforts to fuel innovative training, quality patient care, and life-changing discoveries that are essential to the hospital's mission.

Rapple oversaw Life.Giving.Breakthroughs., the Brigham's $1.75 billion campaign to transform the future of medicine. Concluded in the fall of 2020, it is the largest hospital campaign in Boston history.

Before joining the Brigham in 2015, Rapple previously served as Harvard Medical School’s Dean for Resource Development where she oversaw the planning and execution of “The World is Waiting: The Campaign for Harvard Medicine,” with a goal of $750 million. In her previous role as Associate Vice President of Development at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, she oversaw the implementation of the $1 billion “Mission Possible” campaign. Rapple has also held leadership positions in Development at the Harvard School of Public Health and Dartmouth Medical School.

Rapple earned her bachelor’s degree in finance from Babson College and her master’s degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
