Tom Walsh, Vice President, Inpatient Operations and Analytics, Planning, Strategy and Improvement

Tom WalshTom Walsh serves as vice president of Inpatient Services for both Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. In this role, Walsh oversees all operations related to inpatient care, including administrative and strategic leadership and operating performance. Partnering with nursing and physician leadership, he also oversees all performance improvement initiatives and capital projects.

Walsh also leads the Analytics, Planning, Strategy and Improvement (APSI) department. APSI is a collection of five teams— Analysis and Reporting, Data Science and Analytics, Financial Analysis and Business Planning, Process Improvement and Strategic Implementation—which serve as centralized resources to support Brigham leaders in meeting their strategic goals.

Prior to joining the Brigham, Walsh worked in Process Improvement at Cambridge Health Alliance. Earlier in his career, he was a mechanical engineer at General Electric Aircraft Engines (now GE Aviation) and Westinghouse Electric Corp. He holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Duke University and a master’s of business administration from Boston College.
