Shea Elected to Heart Rhythm Society Board

Julie B. Shea, MS, RNCS, FHRS, CCDS was elected to the Board of Trustees for the Heart Rhythm Society and will begin her three year tenure in May 2012 during the 33rd Annual Scientific Sessions in Boston.  The Heart Rhythm Society is known as the international leader in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, and the primary information resource on heart rhythm disorders.

Shea is a nurse practitioner with the BWH Cardiac Arrhythmia Service and has been an active member of the Heart Rhythm Society since 1991. She has served on numerous committees and has held several leadership roles.  She was the program chair for the 2008 and 2010 Allied Professional Programs at the Scientific Sessions and was made a fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society in 2008.  Each year, the society asks its members for assistance in identifying qualified candidates for the board of trustees, ensuring the Heart Rhythm Society's tradition of strong leadership succession.

The Heart Rhythm Society's Board of Trustees consists of 18 voting members; 10 of whom are elected from among the members and fellows of the society at-large. The mission of the board is to govern the society, protect the society's image and its assets, and be the moral voice of the membership of the society.
