Kevin Elias, MD |
Kevin Elias, MD, of the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynecology, recently received a K12 award from the Reproductive Scientist
Development Program (RSDP) with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Elias
received this grant to study new treatments for ovarian cancer.
Started in 1988, the RSDP is a national career development
program with the mission of developing physicians and scientists who will
research cutting-edge cell and molecular technologies to address major issues
in obstetrics and gynecology. The RSDP is supported by the Eunice Kennedy
Shriver National Institute of Child Health within the NIH.
The award consists of a two-year period for training, during
which all of Elias's time will be devoted to researching ovarian cancer. After
this period, Elias will continue this research for three years, working to
design a new drug delivery system for treating ovarian cancer that uses a
combination of molecular biology and nanotechnology.
