Edwin Silverman, MD, PhD, chief of the Channing Division of Network Medicine, was recently elected to the Association of American Physicians (AAP).
The AAP is a nonprofit organization comprised of more than 1,300 active members and 600 emeritus and honorary members from the U.S., Canada and other countries. The organization aims to encourage the pursuit of medical knowledge through the advancement of basic and clinical science.
Silverman has led collaborative research studies that have identified multiple genetic loci associated with COPD. More recently, his research group studied the function of COPD genetic variants and performed network analysis of genetic and other -omics data. As chief of the Channing Division of Network Medicine, Silverman is working to develop and extend research and education in the application of network and systems approaches to complex diseases.
