Melamed Receives Gershenson Young Investigator Prize

Alexander Melamed, MD, of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, was recently awarded the David M. Gershenson, MD, Young Investigator Prize from the Foundation for Women’s Cancer during the Society of Gynecologic Oncology meeting in March 2016.

The Young Investigator Prize is awarded to a fellow or resident who has promise to contribute to the field of gynecologic oncology. The Foundation for Women’s Cancer is dedicated to increasing public awareness of gynecologic cancer risk, prevention, early detection and optimal  treatment. The organization also provides funding for gynecologic cancer research and training.

Melamed is a chief resident in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research focuses on how variations in surgical care impact women undergoing surgery for gynecological malignancies, as well as the epidemiology of gestational trophoblastic disease.
