Redline Earns NHLBI Outstanding Investigator Award

Susan Redline, MD, MPH

Susan Redline, MD, MPH, director of BWH's Program in Sleep and Cardiovascular Medicine, has received a National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) R35 Outstanding Investigator Award for a program entitled "Phenotypic and Molecular Signatures for Sleep Apnea."

This award expands Redline's research team with geneticists, engineers, physiologists, statisticians and clinicians who collaboratively seek to identify genetic and environmental determinants for sleep apnea and sleep apnea-related health problems. Their goals are to identify novel approaches for treating sleep apnea and preventing sleep apnea-related health complications using approaches tailored to individual patients' needs. With this approach, Redline's team aims to create a platform for precision sleep medicine.

The NHLBI provides global leadership for a research, training and education program to promote the prevention and treatment of heart, lung and blood diseases and enhance the health of all individuals.
