Maxine Sun, PhD, MPH
Maxine Sun, PhD, MPH, a research scientist in the Division of Urological Surgery, was one of four recipients nationwide of an American Urological Association (AUA) 2018 Data Grant. The one-year grant awards investigators up to $25,000 to fund innovative research studies that address key knowledge gaps and emerging research inquiries related to urologic patient care, workforce development and health care policy.
Sun will investigate health care spending patterns among men diagnosed with prostate cancer, with the goal of learning why prostate cancer contributes to high economic burden in the United States. The results of her research will aid providers and policymakers in optimizing the value of care for men with prostate cancer.
The AUA is a premier urologic association, providing invaluable support to the urologic community as it pursues its mission of fostering the highest standards of urologic care through education, research and the formulation of health policy.
