Gerashchenko, Govender and Singer Named BRI/CFDD Microgrant Awardees

Yashini Govender, MD

Lisa Singer, MD

Maxim Gerashchenko, PhD, of the Division of Genetics, Lisa Singer, MD, PhD, of the Department of Radiation Oncology, and Yashini Govender, PhD, of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, received microgrants from the Brigham Research Institute (BRI) and the Center for Faculty Development and Diversity’s (CFDD) Office for Research Careers’ (ORC) joint microgrants/personal expense-defrayment grants pilot program.

These awards provide up to $1,000 to fund an innovative scientific project, training or career advancement for a postdoc, resident, clinical fellow or junior faculty member at the Brigham. Microgrants are awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year.

Gerashchenko will use the funds to develop a method for measuring an organ-specific protein synthesis rate in mouse models.

Singer will enroll in “Value of Imaging through Comparative Effectiveness (VOICE): A Collaborative Training Program in Biomedical Big Data and Comparative Effectiveness Research,” a course at the New York University School of Medicine.

Govender will attend the workshop “Microbiome and Host-Gene Expression Analysis” hosted by the Harvard Centre for AIDS Research in South Africa.
