Braunwald Tower 14AB Earns Bronze-Level Beacon Award for Excellence

Braunwald Tower 14AB staff celebrate their Beacon Award for Excellence.

Braunwald Tower 14AB, a medical intermediate care unit, received the bronze-level Beacon Award for Excellence in recognition of its outstanding commitment to excellence in patient care.

The award, presented by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), honors units that apply evidence-based information to improve patient outcomes and patient and staff satisfaction.

Braunwald Tower 14AB was recognized for many strengths, including evidence-based practice, staff engagement, leadership communication and patient-centered care. AACN reviewers also identified the unit’s interdisciplinary team-training exercises in the Brigham’s Neil and Elise Wallace STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation as a best practice, noting that these sessions promote collaboration and enhance the quality of care by focusing on communication among team members.

As the world’s largest specialty nursing organization, the AACN is dedicated to creating a health care system driven by the needs of patients and families where acute and critical care nurses make their optimal contributions.
