Golby Wins Fulbright Global Scholar Award

Alexandra Golby, MD

Alexandra Golby, MD, of the Department of Neurosurgery and the Department of Radiology, received a Fulbright Global Scholar Award, which will support her work to increase collaboration between clinical and biomedical engineering leaders in Rwanda and Morocco.

The Fulbright Global Scholar Award, granted by the Fulbright Scholar Program, allows U.S. academics and professionals to engage in multi-country, trans-regional projects, including research or teaching roles in two to three countries with flexible schedule options. Golby’s project will leverage existing investments in building health care infrastructure and will seek to advance biomedical technologies in settings with limited resources.

More broadly at the Brigham, Golby serves as director of Image-guided Neurosurgery, co-director of Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating (AMIGO) Suite and co-director of Clinical fMRI. Her research focuses on the development and application of preoperative and intraoperative imaging techniques to optimize surgical treatment of neurosurgical patients with brain tumors.

The Fulbright Scholar Program supports activities and projects that recognize and promote the critical relationship between educational exchange and international understanding, in addition to the intellectual merit of the proposals.
