Regina Wu, MD, of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care, was honored with a 2023 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award from the New England Patriots Foundation for her inspiring leadership and commitment as board president of the Newton Food Pantry.

Wu was one of 26 award recipients recognized this summer at Gillette Stadium for going above and beyond to donate their time and resources to the local community. The program is named in memory of Myra Kraft, a devoted volunteer and philanthropist, and the late wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft. With this award, the Newton Food Pantry will receive $10,000 to continue advancing its mission to alleviate food insecurity.

Wu is an internal medicine and primary care specialist at the Brigham’s Health Care Center, Westwood. As board president of the Newton Food Pantry, she has championed efforts to make the food pantry more accessible and inclusive for the large proportion of immigrants it serves, including obtaining a better selection of culturally appropriate food items and linguistically appropriate signage and translation.

Founded in 1994 to give back to the communities the Patriots call home, the Patriots Foundation seeks to aid marginalized individuals and families through year-round programming and the support of philanthropic agencies.
