Brigham and Women’s Hospital received an ‘A’ Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for fall 2022, the non-profit Leapfrog Group announced Nov 16. This national distinction recognizes the Brigham’s achievements in the area of patient safety and the honor marks the tenth ‘A’ grade earned by the Brigham since the fall of 2017.
“Receiving another ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group is a reflection of the high-quality care the Brigham is committed to providing for our patients,” said Sonali Desai, MD, MPH, Chief Quality Officer at the Brigham. “We’re grateful for our dedicated staff and providers for their continued diligence and unparalleled expertise in providing top-notch care to the patients and communities that we serve.”
The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are based on more than 30 national performance measures and are updated each fall and spring.
